Annapurna Base Camp

FULL ITINERARY
DAY 1 – Kathmandu
Arrival day, welcome to the Kathmandu International Airport. A private bus will take us to our hotel for the night. The drive from the airport is about 40-45 minutes long. The rest of the evening is free for everyone to relax or wander around Thamel. Thermal is located in the northern region of Kathmandu and is a heaven for tourists visiting the city, with numerous hotels, restaurants and shops located in the area.
DAY 2 – Kathmandu
Enjoy your early breakfast at the Hotel. After breakfast there will be a trek briefing by our tour leader who will provide you with information about your trekking adventure. A guided tour is scheduled to visit the bazaar and the Durbar Square, the centre of old Kathmandu. In the afternoon we will visit the Temple of Pashupatinath on the banks of the Bagmati River, the holiest Hindu Shrine in Nepal, and Bodnath, the largest stupa in the country and a destination for Buddhist pilgrims from all over Nepal.
DAY 3 – Kathmandu, Pokhara
On Day 3 we depart for the beautiful town of Pokhara. Our bus drive will take us 6-7 hours to reach our destination. The route is magnificent as the landscape changes and the Annapurna Range comes in to view.
DAY 4 – Pokhara, Nayapul, Ghandruk
Our trekking journey begins on Day 4 . We leave Pokhara and drive with a private bus for 45 minutes to Nayapul where we begin our Trek. Today's walk follows a stone pathway for about 4 hours via isolated mountain villages and stunning landscapes. Our base for tonight is at a Hotel in Ghandruk. Overnight altitude 1940 m.
DAY 5 – Ghandruk, Choomrong
Today our Trek continues with an ascent through the foothills from Ghandruk to Kimrong Khola where we then descent to cross a bridge bridge over the river before we make a short ascent to the village Taulung. We then begin the long steep ascent to Choomrong enjoying the stunning views of Annapurna South and the Machhapuchhre peaks along the way. Approximately 7-8 hours trekking. Overnight altitude 2060m.
DAY 6 – Choomrong, Himalayan Hotel
On day 6 we descent to cross the Choomrong Khola River by a suspension bridge. We then continue a steep ascent through lush forest where we stop for lunch at the Bamboo Hotel. After lunch we continue our ascent towards Dovan, through wet bamboo forest to reach our accommodation at the Himalayan Hotel later this afternoon. Approximately 7-8 hours trekking. Overnight altitude 2630m.
DAY 7 – Himalayan Hotel, MBC
Our Trek today is over rocky moraine as we ascent to the Machhapuchhre Base Camp, overshadowed by Annapurna South and overlooking the magnificent shape of the “fish tail”, one of Nepal’s holy mountains. Machhapuchhre has ever been climbed to its summit. The only attempt was in 1957 by a British team led by Jimmy Roberts. Two more climbers have later on attempt a to climbed it but reached only 150 m of the summit via the north ridge, since then, the mountain has been declared sacred and its now closed to climbers. Approximately 4-5 hours trek. Overnight altitude 3720m.
DAY 8 – Annapurna Base Camp, Bamboo
Today we leave MBC early in the morning to trek for only 4km away to the Annapurna Base Camp. Several stone buildings atare situated at 4130m from where we will cross and then ascent to a spectacular viewpoint. Here we experience breathtaking views the peaks encircling us, including the south face of Annapurna I and also the Annapurna South glacier. We have time to enjoy and photograph this unique mountain panorama before we descent back to the Bamboo village where we spend the night. Overnight altitude 2450m.
DAY 9 – Bamboo, Jhinu Danda
We descent through rhododendron forest before we cross the Choomrong Khola and then climb up to the Choomrong village where we take a rest break. We then continue our trek to Komrong Danda, and shortly after we reach Jhinnu Danda, our home for the night. Approximately 6-7 hours trekking. Overnight altitude 1700m.
DAY 10 – Jhinu Danda, Berthani, Pokhara
Today is our last trekking day, after breakfast we descent to Berthani where we meet our bus for a short drive back to Pokhara, where a hot shower and a lovely meal awaits at our Hotel.
DAY 11 – Pokhara, Kathmandu
We drive back to Kathmandu by bus. The drive itself is fairly long, taking around 6-7 hours, however along the way we are rewarded with views of the Himalaya.
